A Day of Workshops & Performance for Singers and Choirs from across Hull, the East Riding, Yorkshire and beyond.

Saturday 15 July, 9am – 6.30pm, in Hull City Hall and other resonant spaces of Hull City Centre

Join us as Hull celebrates being a Singing City
Singers and choirs from near and far are invited to join voices on this special day of song, enabling singers to be part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017 in a unique way.

Hull City Council’s Singing City celebrates 2017 with a big day of song in and around Hull City Hall. Join a unique Outdoor Performance and Workshops led by some of the UK’s top singing leaders. Bring your choir, your singing friends or just come along!

Choose your Workshops on the day, and be part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017. We’ll share a specially commissioned Sing to the Hills song, by award winning composer and choir leader, Helen Yeomans to learn in advance*. Helen will lead a massed sing in the morning, while the extraordinary vocal quartet Mouthful will perform later in the day, along with participating choirs.

Supported by Hull City Council Arts Development and Arts Council England, the Bigger Sing will include workshops led by awesome workshop leaders including: Jason Singh, Sharon Durant, Bex Mather, Katherine Zeserson, Dave Camlin, Michael Betteridge, Dr Paul Whittaker, Em Whitfield Brooks and Ali Bullivent.

Bring your own lunch, or buy a packed lunch in a bag in advance when you buy your ticket from Hull City Hall for an additional £6.75. 

Packed lunch will be set up as a supplementary event when you book - Pre Bookable Packed Lunch at £6.75 - including options for meat, veggie & gluten free diets (details to follow). Lunch will be served in a brown packed lunch bag and will include:

  • Assortment of sandwiches served on white and wholemeal bread from a selection of the following:
    • Roast Beef, Red Onion and Horseradish, Ham and Tomato, Egg Mayonnaise, Mature Cheddar with Pickle, Tuna and Cucumber, Cheese Savoury
  • Crisps
  • Bottle of Water
  • Chocolate Bar
  • Piece of Fruit
